casting organic mater into metal
organic material can be used to directly cast them into metal. In this case orquid flowers were used to create this belt buckle.. this was a direct wax casting and may be cast into sterling silver, bronze or alpaca.
pieces of cloth, gauze and string are also used for saddle pads, the gaucho's poncho, polo bandages and lasos
creation of a belt buckle using the dripped wax method
this kind of belt buckle is used by dripping hot wax and guiding the wax with a hot knife, a very exact process since the drop can be dripped and modelled only at the right temperature
creation of belt buckles and sculptures using modelling wax
the modelling wax used by marcela is a mix of bee's wax, paraffin and natural resin, which gives it the ideal texture and give so that when warm, can be stretched out to form different structures. It is able to capture fine detail and can even pick up fingerprints which are then translated into metal.
