1.Spruing.
The first step consists of driving bronze pins through the wax into the core and then gates, feeders and funnel are strategically attached to the wax. This allows for the even flow of the molten metal and releases air and trapped gases produced during the casting. Trapped air can occupy the space of an ear, part of the head, even a whole foot or leg if these sprues aren't attached correctly. This entails making the missing piece again in wax, and then casting it and soldering it on to the original sculpture. |
